Both councils committed to strengthening collaboration on economic development, infrastructure, and public safety
PLAMONDON, AB — The Mayor, Reeve, and Councils of Lac La Biche County and Athabasca County met this week for a historic joint discussion to strengthen cooperation on the issues that matter most to residents and businesses across the region. The meeting was facilitated by Integrated Strategic Partners at the Plamondon Festival Centre on Tuesday, March 10, 2026.
Leaders from both municipalities emphasized that the two counties share deep economic and social ties, with many farms, businesses, and families spanning municipal boundaries. Recognizing these shared interests, both councils expressed strong support for more collaboration on economic development, transportation infrastructure, and public safety.
“Tuesday’s joint meeting between the County of Lac La Biche and Athabasca Council was a meaningful and productive discussion focused on strengthening regional collaboration. This was the first of what we hope will be many conversations as we continue working together to support and strengthen economic growth across our region. The discussion highlighted opportunities for joint engagement with the Province of Alberta on key issues, such as the need for improvements along critical transportation corridors. Both counties also agreed to work together to improve cellular and broadband connectivity, recognizing that reliable telecommunications are essential for economic growth, emergency response, and community safety.
