Nathan Thiessen

Intern

Nathan is a recent political science graduate with a background in non-profit organizations and advocacy, where much of his work has involved advancing stakeholder priorities inside political environments.

At ISP, Nathan serves as an Intern, supporting research, analysis, and coordination across client initiatives. He prepares written materials and contributes the policy and background research behind the team’s work in public affairs and stakeholder engagement.

Before joining ISP, Nathan was Vice-President (Operations and Finance) at the University of Alberta Students’ Union, where he oversaw the organization’s finances and internal operations and helped set strategic direction across its initiatives. Much of that role came down to making processes run efficiently and delivering value for the students the union represented. He also served as Chair of the Edmonton Student Alliance, navigating the political environment on behalf of the students the alliance represented to deliver on shared priorities.

Nathan holds a Bachelor of Arts (Honours) in Political Science from the University of Alberta, with academic interests in intergovernmental relations, citizenship and multiculturalism, and public policy. He came to ISP to apply that training in a practical setting.

With an extracurricular background in board governance, competitive debate, and mock parliament, Nathan enjoys a spirited philosophical discussion about the world and how its problems might be solved.
