Doug’s diverse experience in both the business and political arenas has made him a driving force behind numerous and significant projects throughout Alberta.

As a Partner at ISP, Doug excels at bridging the gap between the business and government sectors, effectively translating essential knowledge, processes, and actions to achieve both short and long-term results.

Doug was a four term Member of the Legislative Assembly of Alberta for the constituency of Spruce Grove-Sturgeon -St. Albert, where he held several Cabinet posts including Minister of Finance, President of Treasury Board, Minister of Agriculture, Minister of Advanced Education, and Minister of Innovation and Science in four provincial governments and under five Premiers. Doug also served as Deputy Premier under two Premiers.

The Chairman of the Canada Asia Synergy Group, President of Timber Wolf Investments, Partner in Canada Asia Trading Corp, Principal Business Advisor for Timber Wolf Advisory Services, as well as a Board Member for the largest Frac Sand mining company in Canada, Doug continues to extend his expertise across various economic development initiatives such as Edmonton International Airport as a past board member, the Hong Kong Canada Business Association, and others.

A visionary problem solver, Doug is a staunch advocate for companies seeking to form P3 partnerships, pioneering innovative methods to secure capital for both public and private institutions.

Rooted in a business-first mindset, Doug managed international marketing and sales of specialty grains at ConAgra Inc. and Agra Services of Mexico. He then went on to establish his own international trading company, Timber Wolf Trading.

Doug graduated from the Southern Alberta Institute of Technology (SAIT) with a diploma in business. He furthered his education with accreditation from the Institute of Canadian Bankers and earned honorary degrees from both Olds College and SAIT. Additionally, he holds the ICD.D designation from the Institute of Corporate Directors.

Doug also proudly served as a soldier in the Canadian Forces, where his dedication led to the inclusion of military leave in Alberta’s Employment Standards Act.

A passionate outdoorsman, Doug enjoys his time on the farm, riding quads, and fully appreciating nature.
